Been messing around with this picture for a while, was wondering what you guys thought. It started off as a class assignment but I decided to work on it on my own now that spring term is over.
This is really great. Your values look awesome and I love the texture of the red at the top and the green at the bottom -- kind of space/cosmic.
I really like the energy ball in his hand. I'm buying it as a light source, and effects animation / concepting (fire, electricity, water, etc) is a really tough skillset to develop but very awesome.
I like the dude's armor but would recommend double-checking his anatomy. His neck looks like a straight cylinder; if you define his sternocleidomastoid muscle a little more I think that will help (it's the one that connects from the back of the ear to the collar bone). Also, I know that low angle is really hard, but his chin is getting a little lost in his neck. Maybe try taking a reference photo and/or really breaking the form down in boxes and simple geometry.
Overall, looks super awesome. Definitely the kind of stuff to submit for working on World of Warcraft, League of Legends or even roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder. Would love to see more of your classwork!!
Thanks for the kind words mate! What you said about the face and neck is spot on. Right after I read your comment I made some subtle anatomy & geometry changes to the piece and right away it felt much much better. Great suggestions man.
Its funny you said those games because WoW, LoL and D&D are some of my favorite games. I will try to update my blog soon man, but keep your work coming too! I love seeing the stuff you are working on.
