TS Designs

Hey everyone, hope you've been well!  Cydney and I caught up a couple weekends ago and her stuff is looking great.  I have been insanely busy working on finishing up the VFX for Iron Man 3!  It's going pretty well, but I'll be ready for a break when it's over.

In my spare time my big project has been working on this space western comic!  Here's a sneak peak at some of the designs.  We're aiming to release the first issue in mid-April.

More stuff soon!  I gotta get some pages done :)

  1. Yo Yo Sam,

Great looking character concept sheets brotha! This Titanium Star comic designs are looking really cool so far! I think it is great how you are showing ideations, a more realized version, and then head turnarounds for your characters. Your spaceship with the orthos & thumbnails look awesome as-well. I would like to fly that ship.

I wish I knew more about portfolio pages, but I think, if you had the time, these concept sheets could become a bit stronger if you put in some type of background designs on a low opacity. It might really pop your characters forward.

This is a video from Feng Zhu's channel, incase you have not seen it yet and if you have the time, showing the before and after work of some of his students. Such as, what a students work looked like before they attended his school, and then after. Really what was interesting is that in this video there are a lot of really cool examples about presentation and page layout.

Feng has often said in some of his other videos that the presentation and layout of the page is just as important as the designs on the page, and there are some potentially interesting examples of page layouts from his students here.

Also, the student gallery of Feng Zhu's school also has some interesting page layouts to look through, some being stronger than others.

With regards to design, what was your concept for Cheyenne? Is she the protagonist? and this is set in the future right? This is just me, but I potentially would love to see some of her outfit look a bit more sci-fi. It has a western / detective look to it, but right now her gun, with a little bit in her shoes, seems to be the most high tech part of her outfit. It may be cool to see a little bit of tech incorporated into her vest or gloves or something, but this is just a thought.

Overall this stuff is looking really great Sam. Hope everything at DD is going well :)

    Cheers!
