I am not certain which city this is supposed to be. Really it was an excuse to work on perspective (atmospheric and geometric), Tonal contrast, and texture versus form. While brainstorming it, the thought of floating castles came up. Seems to me, moats would be less intimidating to sieges in a world with flying ships and creatures. Floating structures could be defended more easily. Decidedly middle-eastern in tone. Maybe I am drawing from Sinbad?
Dan: Like those portraits. Great modeling and anatomy. Funny how shadows can change features. There is some picture on the web showing the Lincoln memorial in different lighting. Is the hood's hole mirroring his symbol?
Sam: Robert is looking good. Like the idea of his cape changing his silhouette. Staves can be very iconic (thinking of Skeletor's). Perhaps a chance to do props?
Will, awesome-looking island, bud.
ReplyDeleteWow, the bar has been friggin raised! Just fantastic work, dude. I love how you've thought about the universe of floating islands and what some of the practical applications of that could be. I love the little details, like the flags on the ropes connecting the islands. Your ship designs are great too, and you've rendered out a huge cityscape in just a totally killer way. Also, despite not showing the whole island in frame, you've made it very clear that it's floating in the sky.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had some critiques for you but I'm just blown away by this piece!!
Also, good call on designing Roberts' scepter thing in full!
Can you e-mail me the full-res version?
ReplyDeleteHoly F! This is friggin' awesome! The floating rocks are so cool! Kind of reminds me of the things that floats around one of your character in Eric's class! Love that stuff!
