Here is an initial rendition of Talon. I scanned a sketch in and used photoshop to model it a bit and add color. My immediate thoughts on a bird-man idea were the weapons. I can imagine them using nets in the air, to tangle one another and make them fall from the sky, as well on ground bound enemies to make them vulnerable to fly by spearings. Also I like you Cog men sils Dan. The rounder forms remind me of old kettles and furnaces, which is just inline for the idea of a clock work giant. The negative space is great too.
Excellent idea! I've always thought of the arms as its wings, but never quite came up with a good design solution for that. Your design totally offers a completely different silhouette which I like quite a bit. Very cool design!
ReplyDeleteReally badass! I'm with Dan -- you've hit a different but also viable solution for the wings/arms problem. The reason I avoided "wings on the back" was that I didn't want him to conjure up "angel" imagery and whatever that might connote, but by giving him a bird head and feet and covering him in feathers you've definitely managed to keep in the fantasy creature realm.
ReplyDeleteI like the nets as weapons idea, and the outfit makes me think of a Roman gladiator. Maybe give him a tail / tail feathers for steering? And refine into a cleaner/tighter design if that's what you want? Wish I could think of more criticism to give you some constructive feedback but I really like it a lot!!
