First off, Sam, cool story. it has a lot of depth!
These are some ideations for Cut Throat Island. I read Talon Greyfeather is supposed to live there. I liked the skull idea, but was not sure to keep it a human skull or bird skull. These are probably the colors I would use on the final island but nothing is really final because it is a concept after all. I hope it fits somewhere into the story but i can always change it up.
I do love feedback / criticism.
Hope have all been well,

Dude this is killer! Really fun pirate fantasy design. I like how there are alot of different levels to the island; different flat spaces. So far I feel like we've been drawing islands that really only have one level but this is a cool design and wouldn't be a problem for flying ships / inhabitants.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Kevin, awesome to hear from you and have you on board! The story is a long-running Dungeons and Dragons game that some friends of mine started and I jumped in on. It's a pretty sweet universe with lots of fodder for an aspiring concept artist in need of things to draw!
Also, using skulls (or even just other items) for island shape ideation seems like a great idea. You get some character into the island itself; it lets you know if it's a friendly or scary place. Way to mix it up!
Thanks man, i'm trying to do art everyday now but i am terrible with coming up with story ideas that are original haha.
ReplyDeleteD&D is pretty cool. I played once or twice when I was younger.
Im tryin to beef up my portfolio with new work. Hope it is ok I illustrate some of you and your friends story :)
Yeah man, that's totally the goal! Get everyone drawing and collaborating!
