Just quickly threw something together without much thought. Maybe I should be do more of these...
[Update 1] Here's another go. I have to force myself to keep my drawings looser than usual, otherwise I'd find myself jumping into details too soon and lose out on the overall design.
[Update 2] Damn, those collars looks super uncomfortable if not restrictive. Need to problem solve that if I plan to keep that design.
Top middle is probably my favorite; it's the most classically "pirate" and reads very well. Top row, second in is kind of a cool jacket -- it's kind of a modern collar, but the wrist cuffs sell the pirate thing. It might be a look worth further exploring. How far can you push it so that the art design is uniquely Azuran, but still have it communicate that she is a badass pirate?
ReplyDeleteThe [Update 2] costumes are cool, especially the left one. I like the ornate light patterning on the black jacket, and the big cuffs. Her under outfit is pretty slutty but that's kind of awesome. I like her hat design, too. Not sure about the one-leg-covered look -- I would do pants or undies but not half-and-half, it looks a little crazy anime to me.

I kind of like the second from top left. Those shorts say "ready for action." But her head garment could use some refinement.
